THE PEOPLE'S LEADER

The success, the achievement and the growth of the nation after 26 years of independence is definitely due to the higher quality of the leadership and to able administration of His Majesty in implementing the national concept of MIB (Malay, Islamic Monarchy) and MBD (Independent, Sovereign and Democratic) to our sovereign and democratic nation.

The successful implementation of the people projects and vision of His Majesty had proven the ability of his high quality of leadership in administering the country and enable the nation to command a high status and recognition in the region as well as the world over.

Among others of the successes achieved by the nation included the approval towards the formation of several political organizations, the amendments of the Constitution of Negara Brunei Darussalam of 1959, and the reactivation of the Legislative Council in 2004.

The changes and improvement that were made by His Majesty was in accordance to the national concept of MIM & MBD and Brunei style democracy, the approval for political organizations to be formed, the amendments made to the state constitution and the reactivation of Legislative Council showed that His Majesty has given the opportunity for the rakyat to voice out their opinions through proper channel for the good of the nation.

The Brunei-style democracy of this government is a continuity from past rulers if this country, which was included allowing religious freedom and the independence of the rakyat and people to choose of their ways of life they like to do for as long as such self determination will not go against national interest and security.

The people’s view where political parties are seen as oppositions to the government should be changed as such scenario is not true in Brunei Darussalam, because Brunei has never practiced a government administered by members of political party(ies) but a nation ruled by an absolute monarch (with the assistance of the His Majesty’s cabinet of Ministers) who determines the direction of management and looks after the welfare of the people.
